SWABI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf local leaders and workers have praised the party’s former Zaida city president Liaquat Ali Khan for speaking out against former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser over his alleged discriminatory policies.
Speaking at a meeting held here on Friday, the PTI workers pledged to stand by Mr Ali for speaking out against Mr Qaiser for ‘violating’ merit in appointments.
They also condemned Mr Qaiser’s ‘inappropriate’ behaviour with the party activist during a convention held a few days ago and vowed to fight for the rights of Zaida city people.
A video has gone viral on social media, in which Mr Ali is seen rising from his seat just when Mr Qaiser got onto the stage during the workers’ convention, accusing the MNA of appointing all the six members of the Zaida municipal committee from his native Marghuz village.
The video shows that Mr Qaiser burst into anger and asked the people to take Mr Ali away.
A former party office-bearer said: “We salute Liaqat Ali for his courage and bravery to stand up to the former NA speaker.
Various leaders admitted that interval rifts in the party had reached an alarming proposition.
